How Are Your Sharing Love Today?

First daffodil of Spring in Napa

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o`er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

HOW ARE YOU SHARING LOVE TODAY?

Whether you are sharing your love with your beloved partner, your grandchildren, your friends or your pet, opening to expressing love and receiving love is the where the juice is in life. Right now I`m loving the first daffodils blooming in my garden. They lift my spirits and make me happy and I love photographing them and sharing the images.

Bringing More Love Into Your Life - Try this Buddhist meditation practiced called Metta or Lovingkindness meditation and remember to open to self-love as well as loving others. The traditional practice uses a series of phrases directed to yourself, someone you find inspiring, or to whom you feel grateful. Next, move on to a beloved friend, then to someone you may have difficulty with. Finally, we move on to offer metta to all beings everywhere. This is a powerful practice of forgiveness and letting go. My favorite way to practice is with the following phrases repeated silently or sung as a chant:

May I be filled with loving kindness, may I be well. May I be peaceful and at ease and may I be happy. May you be filled with loving kindness, may you be well. May you be peaceful and at ease and may you be happy. May we be filled with loving kindness, may we be well. May we be peaceful and at ease and may we be happy.

The benefits of loving kindness are that you sleep well while enjoying pleasant dreams and awaken easily. Please love you and celestial beings love and protect you. You are safe from external dangers. Your face is radiant and your mind serene. You will be unconfused at the moment of death and take rebirth in the higher, happier realms. All that, and I venture to point out that you may also feel more loving to yourself and others, always a lovely experience.

May you open to a greater experience of love today and always.

With love & blessings, Becca

What’s your dream?

Published by Becca under Wellness Newsletter

“It’s more powerful to move toward what you want than away from what you don’t want.”    Marcia Weider

I’ve just returned from an amazing Dream Day with Marcia Weider, America’s Dream Coach.  Marcia is based in San Francisco and speaks and teaches all over the world.  This was a special day to celebrate her birthday – Happy Birthday Marcia! – and to share her excitement with 70 fortunate folks as she has deepened her personal practice and begun to paint.

Creativity

We were honored to witness her first few paintings.  I’m inspired to do more photography (just had the pleasure of doing some photos for friends vineyard harvest yesterday morning in Napa) and to take my art supplies with me when we travel to Asilomar in Monterey for our annual women’s retreat weekend on October 30th.  Our theme this year is Creativity through music, art, journaling and story telling.  How are you honoring your creative urges?

New Healing Source

My curiosity about Young Living essential oils has moved me to learn more and to share what I’m learning with you.  I have found the Valor blend of oils to be helpful in healing muscle and back pain.  I now add Lavender pure therapeutic grade essential oil to epsom salts in the bath and for quick healing of cuts and bruises.  Below is a great recipe from the Young Living site www.youngliving.com and it’s gluten and dairy free. Yay!

Who’s responsible for your health & wellbeing?

Published by Becca under Wellness Newsletter

Certainly you’ve noticed the heated debate swirling about healthcare reform.  I have great admiration and respect for Senator Mike Thompson, congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama as they stand tall amidst the highly charged conversation.

How would this conversation shift if our focus was on clarity, kindness and wisdom to provide the best information and services to all of our citizens?  I give thanks every day that my husband and I have the option to see our Kaiser physician, even though I more often consult my acupuncturist, massage therapist and personal trainer.

Would we be dancing in the streets if we had the option of a program that at least partially paid for information and services to keep us fit and healthy as well as support when we require surgery or hospital care?  I know I would.  When I worked in the corporate world (many moons ago), my employer switched from offering so many sick days to offering personal time off for doctor and dentist appointments, illness or vacation, whatever we needed to stay healthy and productive at work.  I clearly remember we all felt so grateful and grown up about taking responsiblity for our lives instead of feeling as if we needed a note from our mother to take a day off!

May we all stay open to solutions that benefit our communities.  May our leaders have the strength and persistence to come to mutually beneficial agreements.  May we put more energy into staying active and healthy, caring for one another with patience and compassion, than arguing about who is responsible.

Please share your thoughts on this topic and take good care of yourselves as we shift gently from summer into fall, practicing patience and willingness to change.  Ahhhh…
With love & blessings, Becca
P.S.  If you are ready to take responsibility for your health and wellbeing, join our
new women’s support group beginning this Wednesday, September 9th for only
$149/month.  Call 707-253-8733 today to register.

What are avoiding, putting off or resisting?

Published by Becca under Wellness Newsletter

“Anyone who wonders why I follow
you up high, like a windblown swallow,
up up through your spaces,
has never ever been there
turning and rolling in your graces,
breathing your sweet scented air.

Nothing there for one to get:
nothing except to be met
by your presence, met there
in the midst of your sweet scented air.

How could one not follow your flavor,
rising in the skies to seek favor?
Black wings and bright white hair
there, in the midst of your sweet-scent air.”

Poem by Birrell Walsh

Resistance is a touchy subject with me right now.  So much has been happening in my life that I keep putting off writing this newsletter.  What’s up with that?  I miss hearing from so many of you who respond to these messages.

Finally today I decided – today is the day! – I’ll drop one of my favorite humming bird photos in and this wonderful poem from my friend Birrell and start writing.

Where to begin?  I’m in an intense studying and learning period.  Attended a marketing seminar for coaches with Christian Mickelsen in San Diego.  I’m so filled up with new information and ideas that I don’t know quite where to begin.  Staying in touch with my beloved friends and clients feels good though, no matter what.

If you have been putting off finding a great group of women to join for weekly support, fun and encouragement, I’ve got wonderful news for you. Beginning on Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 9th at 7 p.m. I will begin a six-month program based on Esther Blum’s book EAT, DRINK and BE GORGEOUS.

We will be practicing together to eat mindfully, breathe fully, move more joyfully and laugh a lot!  The group is limited to 10 participants and five wonderful women have already committed.  Call right now to join in the fun.

 With love & gratitude, Becca

What is your daily practice?

Published by Becca under Wellness Newsletter

An important aspect of my life and of my coaching with clients is focused on daily practice.  Many people have been asking about my daily routine.  So here it is.

I usually wake when the sun comes up, 6:30 or 7 a.m. this time of year.  Fluids in, fluids out – then I settle down (with Sophia, my cat) to meditate.  Sometimes I chant, always give thanks and settle into at least 30 minutes of resting in awareness.  Ahhh…

If my back is stiff, I take a hot bath with epsom salts then enjoy a series of energization exercises.  My breakfast is a green smoothie, egg and sausage or often left overs from last night’s dinner.

If I’m feeling fantastic I’ll go for a walk then shower and get going with my day.  Every other day I go to Exertec and walk for 30 minutes on the tread mill if it’s raining or freezing, outside if it’s nice.  Then I have a Crossfit routine of functional strength exercises  for about 20 minutes before I enjoy 15 minutes of swimming laps and a dip in the hot tub.  My very favorite part!

I work from my home, so my days are filled with client sessions, teaching classes, working on the computer and the phone and attending meetings.  I make sure I don’t sit for very long to keep my back happy.  I will sit outside in the garden to write or make phone calls.

I’m all over the place with my mid-day meal.  Sometimes it’s a salad with salmon or left over’s from last night’s dinner.  Never seems to happen at a set time.

If I have an evening committment I will rest in the afternoon, then go out.  I enjoy dinner most evenings with my husband and we love to cook together.  I’m in bed before 10 p.m. most nights.  I meditate and give thanks for the day then sleep usually through the night.  If I’m up at 3 a.m. I meditate and rest in awareness as best I can.

Weekends I make sure to have one day with Steve to play.  I often attend a yoga class, go for a walk with a friend and putter in my garden.  At least once a month I get an urge to go to the ocean and drive over to Bodega Bay or Pt. Reyes.

Not very exciting or mysterious.  Mostly I focus on living in the present moment.  Staying in touch with my body and my spirit.  Enjoying as much creative expression as possible with writing, reading, photography, art, music and movies.

Please share your daily practice and how you are supported in staying healthy and happy
Much love & blessings, Becca
