It’s 4 a.m. and I’ve gotten up to answer nature’s call and no matter what I try, I’m not getting back to sleep. Sound familiar?
I have yet to resort to medication to help me sleep through the night. I’m hearing from so many folks about difficulty sleeping. My approach to most everything is to look at all of the ways I can improve the situation naturally. I’m also a big believer in the power of intention. This is what I say to myself before bed: “I sleep soundly and wake up rested and refreshed”. Naps are good too, when you have the opportunity.
Please speak with your healthcare provider as well to rule out anemia, diabetes or a thyroid condition, which may also cause sleep disturbances.
Here are some natural solutions I have found to be helpful:
- Meditation or progressive relaxation before bedtime
- Drink plenty of water during the day & a bit during the night
- Turn off the TV and avoid the news before bed
- Limit caffeine & alcohol
- Get more exercise and sunshine during the day
- Emotional Freedom Techniques – www.learneft.org
- Rescue Sleep from Bach Flower Remedies
- Phyto Prolief from Arbonne www.arbonne.com
With love & blessings, Becca
